A curious mind.
Two different lenses.
TWO WAYS OF SEEING.
I’m Hazel, a PhD candidate in Chinese Linguistics at NTU Singapore. I work where language, technology and storytelling meet.
From the smallest shift in a Mandarin sentence to a story on screen, I’m interested in how meaning travels — and what changes along the way.
Small words.
Big questions.
Exploring meaning in Singaporean and Taiwanese Mandarin, with an interest in semantic roles, grammaticalization and language evolution.
My work combines linguistic analysis with BERT embeddings, semantic similarity and clustering. Translation, localization and interpreting connect that research to how meaning travels across cultures.
Finding stories.
Making frames.
My creative practice spans screenwriting, directing, producing and photography, informed by an undergraduate background in Theatre, Film and Television.
I’ve worked on script review, cultural consultation and script supervision, and edited film, entertainment and sports content for Xinhua News Agency.
In the making.
PROJECT VISUALS ARE EDITORIAL INTERPRETATIONS, NOT ORIGINAL FILM POSTERS.

The Matrix and Pacific Rim are favourites. Great recommendations are always welcome.
